Fire Engines Given The Green Light

Over the years we have performed a number of analyses for Saxon Sanbec and other fire engine manufacturers. The culmination of this was a recent presentation (see last issue) of some of our work to an International Conference on Crashworthiness.
Recent work for Saxon Sanbec has included analyses on various cab designs to meet the ECE Regulation 29 requirements. The most unusual job was when we were asked to ensure that newly fitted seat belts met the requirements of EEC regulation 76/117 on a very old HCB-Angus fire engine, as pictured, as the original wooden cab structure required extra metalwork to support the seat belts.
The brigade concerned has recently also taken delivery of 3 new Saxon fire engines with more to follow. These all have cabs validated by Analysis by Firth to meet ECE Regulation 29 and seat belts to EEC Regulation 76/116.
