Analysis by Firth star in "Londons Burning"

Well not quite. Sandbach-based Saxon Sanbec's fire engines are starring in the new series of "London's Burning" and Analysis by Firth have recently performed a series of finite element and stress analyses for Saxon Sanbec.

We've been concentrating on two main areas for Saxon Sanbec:
The first series of analyses were on the brackets used to hold the huge water tanks in place on the chassis.

Saxon Sanbec
This was an interesting piece of work which all started when two Fife Fire & Rescue fire engines (not, we must add, supplied by Saxon Sanbec) ran into each other. The water tank mountings broke allowing the water tank to break into the cab. Fortunately there were no serious injuries, but only by sheer good fortune.

Analysis by Firth were asked to investigate the design of water tank brackets. Our recommendations have been implemented by Saxon Sanbec and have also been adopted by Fife and most other Fire Authorities. Analysis by Firth have redesigned Saxon's water tank brackets so that all their new designs are fully compliant with these new requirements.

We've also assessed a series of fire engine cab designs, by analysis, to the requirements of ECE Regulation 29 (Protection of the Occupants of a Truck Cab).
